Greeting Card Line Finds Niche Market - CanadaWest Newspapers

Some highlights:
According to a spokeswoman for the Greeting Card Association, a trade organization representing the industry, Hallmark won't be opening an "infidelity" aisle anytime soon. But she predicts the Secret Lover Collection's cards could support a strong niche market if the demand is there.
"Greeting Cards have always been the social fabric of the nation," says Barbara Miller. "If indeed there is a (forbidden love) sentiment out there and people are seeking to express that sentiment, then these cards may be a of great interest to people".
Barry Shank, a greeting card historian, says cards for extramarital affairs have been around since the 1950's. The fundamental difference is that the Secret Lover Collection is the first to be explicit with it's message.

Secret Love the "Quiet Phenomenon"
 Over the past year, the national media* has featured many stories, segments and articles about married people involved in a secret love affair. Research on this quiet phenomenon indicates that participants come from all walks of life, all demographics and all states of mind. The reasons for getting involved in a secret love affair are as varied as the married men - and women- who participate in them. Statistics vary about the percentages, but have ranged as high as 80% of married men and 65% of married women in the United States are currently involved or have been involved in an secret love relationship.  The Secret Lover Collection was launched in New York at “The 59th Annual National Stationery Show” Spring 2005
May 15-18th at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center.
The Secret Lover Collection was met with great enthusiasm and excitement. Retailers from across the country and Canada and even South Africa stopped by our booth.
"This product line is so unique and has great potential due to it's specific niche and enormous untapped market" quotes one retailer.
"Love this concept. It makes great business sense with the numbers of people who wish to express themselves in this type of relationship" says another retailer.
"Finally a way for forbidden lovers to relay their sentiments via a greeting card. An original concept that has never been done before. Great concept!"

Personalization
Items are being produced to appear customized for an individual’s needs.
